The Paros Island ,the Capital and central of Paros :Parikia :
The capital and central port of Paros is called Parikia, on the west coast of the island. A quick walk to the scenic alleys of the old town, with the beautifully made arches and the spread churches will delight you. However, Parikia is not just another beautiful Cycladic town, but also a place with a great historical interest; First of all, you must visit the church of Virgin Mary Ekatontapiliani, a great Byzantine monument which was inspired either by Saint Helen or by her son, Constantine the Great, who was the first emperor of the Byzantine empire. This glorious Orthodox church has been the island's landmark since it was built. Second, you should visit Parikias' Venetian castle which is in the middle of the town's traditional centre and dates from the 13th century. Also don't miss seeing the Archaeological cemetery, near Parikia Beach, and the Archaeological museum, behind the church of Ekatontapiliani.Apart from the history and monuments, Parikia is definitely a place to stay or have fun; There is a number of bars as well as a variety of restaurants, cafes, and accommodation for every taste and pocket. Also it is the place where public transport begins and takes people to even the most remote areas of the island.Shopping is recommended in terms of souvenirs and ceramics
