Xanthi is the capital town of the homonymous prefecture. Known as «the city of the a thousand colors» it is a modern town rich in history with many attractions for all visitors. Xanthi is situated 713km. away from Athens and 224km. away from Thessaloniki, while it is famous for its carnival taking place every February.
Of unique interest is the Old Town situated in the heart of Xanthi. All houses follow the traditional architectural style where they live more than 3,000 people.
