44klm away from Tripoli, in an outstanding landscape, at an altitude of 1033m, Vytina stands on a pla-teau by the foothills of mountain Menalo. The climate is unique and up to 1940 it was a place visited by sick peo-ple to get well. Vytina was built in 350 AC after the destruction of Methydri. During the Ottomanic domination the place was cosidered sacred and during the Revolution the town was used as a hospital for the injured and also supplied food to the fighters. The contribution to the Revolution costed Vytina to be setted on fire by Hebraim se-ven times in two years (1825-26). When the Greeks were liberated Vytina started flourishing based on trade, small productions and tourism and also wood works. Visit the town library which is rich in old books and the folkloreMuseum. The Ostrakina ski- center is very close, while you can take several routes for hiking in the forests, on the slopes of mountain Menalos. Also visit the historical Monasteries of Kernitsa and Agioi Theodori, both built in the 16th century
