Vouliagmeni, (meaning «sunken» in Greek), is situated in the south-western suburb of Athens, only 20km. away. With a population of approximately 6,500 inhabitants is a perfect destination for those wishing to enjoy their holidays in a busy place. The beaches of Vouliagmeni are ideal for swimming, consistently awarded by the Blue Flag, (for being so clean and organized). The small, rocky islet of Fleves, (meaning «veins» in Greek), lies offshore.
The Nautical Club of Vouliagmeni, («NOV»), is also located here, overlooking the bay of the town, the sea and the lake. The lake of Vouliagmeni is situated to the south of the town, very close to the sea. It used to be a large cavern that collapsed following an earthquake. Today, the lake continues deep inside the mountain of Hymettos and the cave formed underwater is not fully explored.
The visitor may find here various hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, bars and commercial shops
