The town of Vonitsa is situated at the entrance of the Amvrakikos bay, having a population of approximately 4,000 inhabitants. Vonitsa can be reached either from the fishing village of Amfilochia at the southeastern corner of the Ambracian gulf or by taking the ferry from Preveza.
It is an impressive town surrounded by long, pebbled beaches ideal for swimming with crystal clear waters. Vonitsa has a small forested peninsula, while the view and the natural surroundings are of unique beauty. Here, the visitor can find an imposing medieval castle, built during the 13th century, one of the best preserved ones in the country. Today, Vonitsa is a developing tourist area with a great variety of hotels, restaurants and cafeterias.
