The town of Tyrnavos is situated 16km. away from Larissa. It is the capital of the homonymous municipality with a population of 17,000 inhabitants. The area is described as flat, surrounded by several hills. At a close distance lies the lake of Mati, (meaning «Eye» in Greek), which along with the river of Pineios form the solemn aquatic life resorts of the municipality. The lake is the core of an ecosystem, rich in both flora and fauna.
