The town of Trikala is the capital of the Trikala prefecture, situated in the fertile plain of Thessaly. The picturesque town is divided into two parts by the river Lithaios. It has a population of approximately 52,000 inhabitants and it is the third most developed town of Thessalia, in regard of culture and economy. Trikala is, also, the commercial and distribution center of the agricultural products of the homonymous prefecture. The town offers a wide range of activities to its visitors. For instance, Asklipios foot-walk and Manavika region are the ideal places for those wishing to have a lively, full of music, night. The district of Varousi has been declared a traditional settlement and, thus, is under preservation. If you come to Trikala, do not forget to visit the imposing castle, a compound made of three parts.
