The prefecture of Trikala is situated in west Thessalia, covering an area of 3,384 square kilometers. The land is entirely mountainous, while the river of Aheloos feeds the artificial lake of Mesohora. With the population of approximately 138,000 inhabitants, the prefecture offers a unique landscape with beautiful, picturesque villages. Of unique, wild beauty are, also, the rocks of Meteora, a rare geological phenomenon.
