Thessaloniki (Introduction): The prefecture of Thessaloniki is the second in Greece in population, (950,000 inhabitants), and the largest in Macedonia. It stretches from the Thermian Gulf to the Strymon Gulf. Its capital town is that of the homonymous name. More precisely, Thessaloniki is the second largest town and the co-capital of Greece.


Throughout the prefecture the visitor may find beautiful natural sites, settlements, hospitable people and significant historical monuments. If you come to the prefecture, do not forget to visit the forest of Seih-Siu and the popular beaches of Aretsou, Perea, Nea Krini and many other fishing villages.
Every year several cultural events take place here, including the «Dimitria» held in honour of the capital town’s patron saint, Demetrios.
