The municipality of Sykies is standing on the north section of the city and includes the outer part of the Byzantine walls from the acropolis of the city (called Eptapyrgio) to the gate called Letea, covering an extension of 1,5Klm.Though the remains prove that the region was inhabited round 315 BC, the main inhabitation of the grounds occurred at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century by immigrants from Romylia, Asia Minor and Eastern Thrace. From there and on the population continued rising and Sykies became very soon a strong community in
