The beach town of Skala Kallonis is situated on the Gulf of Kalloni, 3km. south of the homonym town. Skala Kallonis is both the port, beach and tourist center of the settlement. It has a fine sandy beach with calm and shallow waters, ideal for families with children. The various restaurants are located right at the beach front, not far away from the small fishing harbor. Because of the surrounding mountains, the bay of Kalloni is the ideal place for wind-surfing. More importantly, the bay is full of sardines. That is the reason why, during the first weekend of August, the locals celebrate the Skala Kalloni Sardine Festival. They all gather in the village’s square with free ouzo and, of course, sardines.
