The town of Serres is situated in a fertile plain, 24km. away from the Strymon river and 69km. away from Thessaloniki. It is the capital town of the prefecture, having a population of approximately 56,000 inhabitants. Serres is a significant trade centre for tobacco, grain and livestock. When visiting the town, you shall enjoy long walks in the many forests, parks and traditional squares. Serres stretches from the ruins of the castle up to the forested hills of Koula.
