9Klm on the west of Patra we find the city of Rio, a modern city (founded in 1998), built on the coastline of Achaia, with vivid colours and full of life the entire year. The municipality consists of the communities Saint- Va-silios, Arahovitika, Drepano, Psathopyrgos, Sella, Platanni, Kastritsi, Argira, Rodini, Magula. In antiquity there used to be a city named Riowhich was dedicated to god Poseidon. Bars, clubs, restaurants that serve multicultural dishes, tavernas and the casino in Rio give away a cosmopolitan way of life, while you will find super luxurious hotels for your accomodation in this city. The port is big and very important. Here we will find one of the most futuristic giant public serving works in Greece, the bridge that connects Peloponnisos with Central Greece, the building of which made the communication as well as the tralsportation much easier and faster.
