The village was founded after the disaster in Asia Minor by refugees from Afthoni. It is built amphitheatrically with an excellent street plan, above the sea level and at the inmost part of the gulf of the Holy Mountain. It is surrounded by olive trees and low vegetation. From every part of the village you can see the majesty of the Holy Mountain and the peninsula of Sithonia.
