Pyli: Pyli, the ancient city of Peli, is found at a distance of 15km. southwestern to the town of Kos and 4km. southern to the tourist resort of Marmari, which serves as its port. The small town of 2,500 permanent residents is situated almost at the middle of the island.
In Pylis’square, one can find stores, traditional cafes and taverns. Impressive is the «House of Pyli» where there is represented a three-room traditional house of the past. The furniture and objects remain the same as their owners left them more than 70 years ago. Next to the house stands a spring with water flowing from six fountains.
Some 3-4km. southeastern to Pyli the visitor comes across the old town, («Palio Pyli»), a semi-ruined settlement.
Several hotels with a wide range of facilities are available in the area. If you are at Pyli during February or March, do not miss to attend the town’s carnival.
