The traditional mountainous village of Portaria is situated 20km. away from Volos, built at an altitude of 650m.  All houses follow the traditional architectural style, made of stone and wood. The scenery of the hill is totally green combined perfectly with cobble stoned paths and old mansions. If you come to Portaria, do not forget to visit the waterfalls of Karavos, where the spring fountain of  «Mana», (meaning «mother» in Greek), is located.
During the summer season, various festivals take place here, including the «International Dance Day», (in May) and the «International Dance Festival for Children», (in July). Portaria is the ideal destination for either summer or winter vacation and the visitor can find here several hotels, cafeterias, tavernas and small commercial shops.
