Situated 11 kilometers far from Chania, at the West, just off the Old Road to Kastelli, Platanias is a village with 740 permanent residents. The village is built along the coast and climbs amphitheatrically uphill, from where the view is magnificent. The village is one of the best touristy developed places of the Chania prefecture, due to the extended beaches and the vicinity to Chania.



Accommodation facilities are plenty and for all budgets. However, in August it is advised to check availability of lodging. Taverns, restaurants and cafes are numerous and you will not lack nightlife and amusement. Access is possible by public bus with very frequent service from early morning to late evening, taxi from Chania, as well as by private and rented car and motorbikes
