Petra is situated on the north of Lesvos, just 4km. away from Molyvos. The village has its own personal style and is a very popular resort in the summer. While the front of the village appears to be a tourist settlement, the streets at the back reveal its traditional nature. The interior of Petra surrounds a rock mountain. In order to get at the top you have to climb  114 steps carved in stone. The view from up there is breath taking, so do not hesitate.
The village has several hotels, shops restaurants and bars, all very close to the sandy beach. The beach of Petra is considered as being one of the best in Lesvos.
Next to Petra is situated the small village of Anaxos with a nice beach and many tavernas. Also, above Petra you can visit the village of Petri, well-known for its astonishing view and the traditional restaurants. There, in the center of the village is located a very old Turkish house, the oldest on Lesvos, as the locals believe.
