Perissa: Perissa is situated 15km. southeastern from Fira.  The village is only populated during the summer months, offering a great variety of hotels, cafeterias, tavernas and bars. There is, also, a camping. From Perissa, a small path crosses the mountain leading to the ruins of ancient Thera. The beach of Perissa is long with amazing black sand, situated next to the village of Emborio. It is the best protected beach from the summer northern winds, («meltemia»), ideal for swimming and relaxation.
