75klm away from Tripoli, this coastal resort of the Arkadian earth builted on the slopes of moun-tain Parnonas, is one of the most cosmopolitan destinations in Peloponnisos. The outstanding beach that will sati-sfy even the most demanding visitor, the mountainous landscape with the hundreds of trees lingering above, the Ano Tyrou which stands amphitheatrically built on the slopes and the mafestic sunsets in combination with the vi-vid night life the territory has will capture your heart. The name probably came from god Apollo, who was wor-shipped in his temple near the village Pera Melana. Nowadays, cultural fiests are organised by the municipality called “Apolonia”. On the top of the hill Kastro, at the end of the beach, remainings of an ancient civilazation are standing, walls of Cyclopian fortification, architecture which indicates that people lived here during sometime of the 3rd century BC. Excavations brought to light findings of the Hellenistic and Roman ages which are exhibited in the Town Hall. The coastline offers many choises for swimming and sea- sports. All the beaches near Paralia Ty- rou are worth to be visited. Sapounakaika, Krioneri, Tseflo, Agios Christophoros, Zaritsi, Livadi, Sabatiki
