The famous village Nydri has been the busiest tourist resort of Lefkada Island. It is one of the first regions of the island that developed their tourist infrastructures. It is found in the south-eastern side and abstains 17 km from the city. The settlement is built in a very green and splendid locality. The beautiful landscape with the rich vineyards, the cultivated trees and the very green and grest smell gardens characterize the region and gain the admiration of thevisitors. The Nydri allocates also a splendid beach which constitutes pole of attraction for those who likes swimming and marine sport. In the street in front of Marina you will find abundance of commercial shops, taverns and cafeterias. Opposite of the Nydri are found the islets Madouri with the mansion of poet Valaoritis, the Scorpion that has been famous island of the Family Onasi, one of the richest in Greece, Skorpidi and Meganisi. From Nydri begin the little boats (caiques) that go or approach all these islets. In the cape of Vlyhoy you will see the grave of German archaelogist Dairpfeld, which believed that Lefkada was the Ithaca for the Omirus (Homer) and that in Nydri was the palace of Odysseus. This theory was never confirmed by anyone. His grave is found in the top of the hill and in the end of peninsula of Vlyhoy, where there is also built the church of Saint Sunday, for that it is said that is built on top of the ancient holy of Nymphs.
