The small town of Nea Peramos is situated 18km. away from the capital town of Kavala, built across the beach of the beautiful bay of Eleftherai. There are several beaches to visit, some of which are ideal for those wishing to relax away from the crowds. Ammolofi, (meaning «sand dunes» in Greek), is one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. The Byzantine castle, situated on the headland of Vrasida, was used as a watchtower of the local port.
