The peninsula of Methana is situated in the eastern part of the Peloponnese, among the islands of Argosaronikos. It has a population of approximately 3,000 inhabitants, all occupied in fishing and farming. Even though Methana is mountainous and rocky, its soil is very fertile producing oranges, lemons and some of the best olive oil in Greece. In Methana the visitor can find several healing sulphur hot springs, since it is a volcanic settlement. More precisely, Methana consists of more than 32 volcanoes. The organized beach is ideal for swimming and fishing, offering a great variety of water sports.
If you come to Methana, do not forget to try the local sweets of «amigdalota», (made of almods), and «galaktoboureko», (a traditional cream pie).
