The settlement of Messochora, (meaning « middle country» in Greek), is situated 67km. away from Trikala, built at an altitude of 800m. All houses follow the traditional architectural style. It is worth visiting the arched stone bridge of Kokkos Chatzipetros, connecting Messochora with the villages beyond the river of Acheloos. Additionally, do not forget to visit the old picturesque watermill in the stream of Simniotis.
In Messochora, there is only a single hotel, («Acheloos»), as well as a few tavernas and cafeterias.
