The small town of Marathonas, (also known as Marathon), is situated on the northeastern part of Attica, 42km. away from Athens. Besides the beautiful, organized beach, the visitor may take a walk in the rare pine-tree forest, one of the few in the whole of Mediterranean. Marathonas has a population of approximately 14,000 inhabitants, while during the summer months that number increases up to 30,000 inhabitants.
The visitor may find here several hotels, tavernas, cafeterias, nightclubs and commercial shops. Additionally, for the lovers of nature, there is, also, a fully organized camping site
