The prefecture of Magnissia is famous for its numerous natural beauties. The mountain of Pelio, in combination with the picturesque traditional villages attract tourists all year round. Its name derives from the first settlers in the region, the Magnetes, while it has a population of approximately 198,000 inhabitants.
