The village of Loutra is situated just 9km. from the town of Mytilini. The name of the village derives from the hot springs which used to exist  close to the bay of Gera. Even today, at a short distance from the beach, there are some points with warm waters in the sea.
Loutra, covered in olive trees, is one of the favorite locations, not just for locals, but also for tourists. There, one can find numerous shops, traditional coffee-places and tavernas. 
A couple a kilometers away Skala Loutron is situated. The first thing which the visitor sees is the small harbor with the colorful fishing boats. Two of the best beaches of the settlement are those of Agios Ermogenis and Haramida.

The village of Loutra on the island of Lesbos
This cozy village is placed on the hills in the southeast of Lesbos, a few kilometres from Mytilini. Driving into the village from the south you pass a deserted ouzo facory with several chimneys, and after that on the right side is the main cobbled street with shops, that leads up to the pink church. It's peaceful and pleasant in this village, and there are many old and empty houses. A nice detail are all the cheerful chimneys that you see on the roofs.
