Kymi is situated in the northeastern part of the island, 91km. away from Chalkida. The small town, with a population of approximately 3,000 inhabitants, is built amphitheatrically on a hill covered in trees, at an altitude of 250m. The view is so majestic that many people refer to Kymi as the «balcony of the Aegean». The town is popular for the production of silk, as well as for the unique architecture of «koumiotiki». All houses retain their pure traditional architecture and the visitor can find here a great selection of hotels, restaurants, cafeterias and bars. Kymi’s port, (one of the greater in Greece), connects Evia to the island of Skyros, Limnos, Volos and Kavala. Noted sights of the region are the abbey of Savior, the castle of Saint George and the Folklore Museum. Only 2km. away from Kymi, there are the healing springs of Honeftiko, (where the Honeftiko water is bottled). Also, if you visit the area, do not forget to try the delicious delicacy of baklava.
