The prefecture of Kozani is situated in western Macedonia, having a total area of 3,562 sq. km and a population of approximately 155,000 inhabitants. The prefecture (with a capital town of the homonymous name) combines both nature and traditional lifestyle with modern infrastructure works. For the lovers of mountain activities, there are at least six mountaineering clubs throughout the prefecture. The beautiful mountains of Pieria, Kamvounia and Voio welcome all visitors for an unforgettable experience.
Kozani is home of the Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia, while it is the sole place in Greece where saffron is grown as a crop and its fruit is of excellent quality.
Every year various cultural events are organized throughout the prefecture with traditional customs and plenty of Greek music and dancing.
