Kotronas: Near Gythio, on the last slopes of mountain Sagias, 88klm south of Sparti on the coast of cove Kolokythias and the Laconic Gulf lies Kotronas , the biggest village of the eastern Mani. In ancient years there was a town built in this area named Kinu Eleftherolakonon which sank during the 3rd century BC. Ruins and objects have accidently been found by fishermen in the sea. Many modern houses in the village have built-in inscriptions of the past and architectu- ral styles of ancient times. Do visit the cave of Adis (the god of the underworld) on the Tenaro cape which is not far away.
