The town of Kos is situated at the northeastern part of the island and it is not considered a large town. The first think which draws ones attention is the imposing medieval Castle of Neratzia, otherwise known as the Castle of St. John’s knights.  That castle is connected to the mainland by a bridge crossing the Palm Tree Avenue. The same bridge also connects the castle to the Platanos, the plane tree under which Hippocrates used to teach.


Numerous buildings have been built in imitation of the Italian architecture of the colonies in North Africa, the Country Hall being one of them. Besides the buildings, the visitor can go for a walk in order to see the tourist shops, bars, cafes and restaurants of the town. For those wishing to stay close, there are, within walking distance, organized beaches with a great variety of water sports.Boat trips from the harbor go to many places including Bodrum in Turkey, so do not miss the opportunity.
