On the westcoast of the Messenean Gulf, built on a hill and rocky ground we find the castle of Koroni.

The Franks builted it during the 6-7^th century for reasons of defense in a very significant spot, where fortresses rom ancient and Byzantine era pre-existed.In the passage of time the Venetians preserved them for safety reasons.You can find remainings of houses and churches inside the walls (Aghia Sophia and Aghios Charalambos).
