Korinthos: Capital of Korinthia just a bit west from the canal. It has been trading center since anciety. The modern Korinthos was built in 1858 by inhabitants of the old Korinthos city which was destroyed by earthquakes. 9klm away is the location of ancient Korinthos, not far away from Akrokorinthos and the remainings of Byzantine and Venetians castles along with many churches built at that time. In ancient Korinthos you will find an Archeolo-gical Museum and findings of the city. In modern Korinthos you will find the Metropolitan temple of Apostolos Paul (he lived and teached here). There’s also amuseum that manuscripts and appliances. From the Prehistorical ages (inhabited during the the 4th millenium) up to the end of the ancient world, Korinthos took great part in the formation of the developments. Favoured by the environment , on the entrance of Peloponissos and ports on both sides of the canal (Kehrees on the Saronic Gulf and Lecheo on the Korinthian) Korinthos controlled the sea com-munocation and the grounds. The line Pire-as – Athens – Peloponnisos passes through here and the land produces wine, raisins, olive-oil, gum resin and fruits.
