1)Drakolimni Gkamila-Smolikas
In altitude 2.050m between the tops Lapatos and Ploskos is found the fabulous Drakolimni of Gkamila. Her name is owed in a dragon, being with fabulous dimensions, which is said that it lived in this and was in permanent conflict with dragons that lived in the Drakolimni of Smolikas in altitude 2.150m. Older believed that the Drakolimni is a very deep lake that her water throws in the river Aoos. Newer researches proved that her depth does not exceed the 5m. In waters of Drakolimni lives Alpine triton (tritus alpestris) an amphibian with length 8 –12 cm with grey- brown-black ridge and red abdomen without blots. Is considered infrequent type and is protected from the Greek and European legislation.
2) National environmental park of river Vikos-Aoos
The National park of river Vikos-Aoos, the park of the big tops, are extended in the mountainous group of Timfi, in north-western utmost of the mountain range of Pindo. Northern limit of the National park is the ravine of Aoos, wild and fascinating. Southern limit of the National park is the famous gorge of Vikos, deep with vertical landscapes and infrequent vegetation. His extent reaches the 13.000 hectares from which 3.400 constitute the core and the 9.600 hectares the regional area of the National park. Tall tops create the picture for the mountain range of Timfi and her Alpine rocky elations. The top Camel (Gkamila) (2.497m.) is the higher top of the Natinal Park. The big tops succeed the one the other: Astraka (2.436m.), Lapatos (2.251m.), Ploskos (2.377m.), Karteros (2.478m.), Big Lithcaria (2.467m.), Tsouka Rossa (2.377m.). The river Aoos in the northerners crosses the homonym hood ravine that is shaped from northern lands of the Timfi and the southerners lowest in height of mountain but equally beautiful, Trapezitsa (2.022m.) and her smaller top of Raidovouniou (1.977m.). The length of ravine touches upon the 8khm while the width is oscillated from 200m until 4hlm. In the southerners it dominates imposing the gorge of Vikos with a vertical shape that reaches 1.250m and his length exceeds 10khm while his width oscillates from 100m until 1khm. In the westerner expense between the villages Vikos and Papigko springs the river Voidomatis, the cleaner river of Greece that it supplies with his waters the homonym gorge.
