In this interval the Orchestra played 32 concerts in Corfu and elsewhere (Patra, Lefkada) collaborating often with the Chorus of Municipality of Corfu , with which 1985 presented for the first time in complete form the opera of a Corfu composer Gerasimos Rompotis "the Girl of Murderer".
By the dues 1995 is attempted the creation of permanent form of Orchestra from the existing potential of Corfu. Thus the current Orchestra is constituted from Corfu people musicians exclusively. This effort undertook to realise maestros Dimitris Kafyris, who was offered without money for the concretisation of this aim. In February 1990 the course of O.M.C. was connected with the Director of Orchestra Pavlos Sergjou. The beginning of collaboration constituted section in the history of Orchestra and also were attempted the orientation in smaller composition and the permanent collaboration with professional musicians. The result was the qualitative rise and the increase of number of appearances of Orchestra.
In autumn 1991 the O.M.C. contributed in the achievement of desire of musician Corfu people ,to grown up a opera of running repertory, with Corfu factors, supporting the undertaking of Municipal Chorus in the growth of "Norma" of Bellini. The autumn 1992 participates in the grewth of opera "Cavalleria Rusticana" of P. Mascaqni.
In period 1992 - 1993 the O.M.C. extends her activities: sound blasts for the third program of E.R.A., it collaborates with leading solists (Sokratis Anthis, Spyros Mourikis) undertakes the artistic and organisational assiduity of the local Festival of Music Room "Divertimenti in Corfu" and collaborates with the Department of Musical Study of the Ionian University in the foundation of complete Conservatoire.
In period 1994 - 1995 through the permanent potential of Orchestra the O.M.C. presents a new form, the "Group of Music Room" constituted from professional Corfu Musicians. In 1994 in collaboration with the Chorus of Municipality of Corfu and the Chorus of National Conservatoire opens the "Fantasia" of L.V. Beethoven under the address of Aristoteli Ntokou.
· In 20-5-1995 with a distinguished Corfu solist violin N. Mandila and under the address of Pavlos Sergjou are executed No1 Capriccio for violin of N. Pagganini and agreement No1 of Bizzet.
· In 1996 in collaboration with the Chorus of Municipality of Corfu grows up the operetta of Theofrastou Sakellariadi "the Given name" under the management of maestros Dimitris Kafiris.
MUNICIPAL REGIONAL THEATRE OF MUNICIPALITY OF CORFU
The Municipal Regional Theatre of Municipality of Corfu, the Veniamin of the institution that envisioned the famous person Melina Merkouri, began his operation the day of Christmas 1998. Globally has presented 16 theatrical productions in all the Scenes (Central, Children's, Experimental). These productions, 8 from which they toured in 62 different cities of country but also in Italy, watched about 142.000 spectators from which 25.000 were students. In the 363 representations from December 1998 until April 2002, acted 209 authors - artists from whom 94 were Corfu people and students in the Ionian University.Characteristically in 2002 were supported all the presentations of opera that presented the Municipality of Corfu while in collaboration with the Department of Musical Study of Ionian University he went up the opera of X. Persel ‘DIDO AND ENIAS’.
ART GALLERY OF MUNICIPALITY OF CORFU
In the frames of application of strategic program of growth and upgrade of city of Corfu, began in August 1995. The important effort for the re-operation of Municipal Art gallery in the Palaces of Saints Michael and George, as core of Historical Museum of city and island of Corfu.
The re-operation of Municipal Art gallery was moved substantially in five different levels:
· the organisation of infrastructure exhibition spaces and not
· maintenance of the existing arts
· the enrichment of Art gallery with new work
· organisational reconstruction
· the periodical report of art.
The income of Municipal Art gallery emanates from:
· Gallery
· Tickets forentry
It is pointed out that the re-operation of Municipal Art gallery assembled the interest of our fellow-citizens artists, collectors, and others that wanted to offer as donation in the Art gallery, arts that they had in their possession. Except the exhibition activities of Art gallery, was given particular accent in the educational programs for minors and adults as well as in the conducted tours of organised teams and schools.
In the spaces of Municipal Art gallery function three different spaces, which contribute in the cultural growth of our city:
· Space of Municipal Art gallery with permanent collection of work of Corfu painters 19th and 20th century.
· From 1996, functions new wing of Municipal Art gallery in the spaces where accommodated the old days the Historical File. With this way, the Eastern wing of Palaces was altered in a space of cultural creation and growth, in which are presented periodical reports, other reports, reports of photograph, etc.
· Room of Art, adjacent in the Coffee of Art, in which only in 1997 organised above 20 reports of painting, jewel, photograph, etc.
CENTRE OF OPEN PROTECTION OF OLD MEN OF MUNICIPALITY OF CORFU
The Centre of Open Protection of Old men (CENTRE FOR ELDERLY CITIZENS) of Municipality of Corfu was founded and functions from 1984 and is unique in level of Prefecture and Municipality. It numbers 2.500 members and is managed by 7mele's Administrative Council with his Chairman the each Mayor every time.
It occupies in permanent places the following personnel:
Social functional which directs the services.
Nurse
Doctor
Physiotherapist
Familial assistant.
The services that provided are:
· Social service at the elderly citizens and in their direct environment.
· Medico-pharmaceutical care.
· Physiotherapy
· Cultural and Recreational programs (Excursions - etc.)
In the same space it functions from the year 1998 the program «Help in the house» which is staffed by:
· Social Operator
· Nurse
· Familial assistant
MUNICIPAL UNIT OF PREVENTION AT THE DRUGS OF SUBSTANCES AND AIDS "NIKOS MOROS"
The Municipal Unit of Prevention at the Drugs of Substances and Aids "Nikos Moros" M.U.P.D.S.A was founded in June 1997. It works as an urban company of not speculative character. It is economically supported by the O.K.A.N.A., the Municipality of Corfu, the association of "SUPPORT” and the State government. It is staffed with specialised personnel and it is overseen officially by the O.KA.NA. It is responded in various social units (young persons, parents, educational) that do not have direct relation with the use of substances.
More concretely the program of M.U.P.D.S.A. concern:
· The young persons, aiming at the aid of their personality, so that they face the difficulties and they select a way of life far from the dependences.
· The parents and the teachers and also the whole school community, aiming at their aid of role and the growth of supporting environment for the new individuals.
· Persons and institutions of local community (executives of local State government, professions, health, bodies of safety, wide common), aiming at the mobility of their support, so that will be created network of sensitised citizens and institutions for the promotion of health in the community.
ENTERPRISE OF TECHNICAL WORK OF MUNICIPALITY OF CORFU
The E.TE.WO Enterprise of Technical work of municipality of Corfu was recommended with the ES/8826 ministerial decision (OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE HELLENIC REPUBLIC 526 ' B, 13 July 1993) but also began substantially her operation from 1 January 2002. The enterprise is managed by (7) persons Administrative Council, four (4) Municipal Advisers, a (1) representative of Technical Chamber Corfu and two persons of municipality of Corfu with experience and knowledge relative with the object of enterprise. Mission of E.TE.WO, initially, is the concretisation of Act of Application of region Kanoni. It is a region with a lot of particularities because tourist, archaeological and historical importance, the geographic place as well as the different layout. For this aim exists narrow collaboration with the EPA of Urban planning, the Prefecture and naturally with the persons of municipality of Corfu who are residents of region Kanoni.
