Kea Town: The town of Kea, also known as Ioulida, is the capital of the island, 5,5km. away from Korissia. It is surrounded by plains with gardens and has the largest unit of windmills in the Cyclades. Ioulida is situated in the center of the island, built amphitheatrically with two-storey houses and cobbled little streets. The visitor can find here several picturesque shops, cafeterias,hotels as well as traditional tavernas. Walking towards the piazza, the view is breathtaking. The Town Hall is located at the central square and it is an impressive, neoclassic building.
Ioulida, has also a beautiful 13th century medieval castle, built with the blocks of stone of ancient walls. The castle, situated on the ruins of the ancient town, it has been built on high altitude for protection reasons.
