The town of Kato Tithorea is situated 63km. southeastern of Lamia. In the earlier years it was called Kifisochori, («village of Kifisos»), named after the homonymous river. Kato Tithorea is the capital town of the municipality of Tithorea, with a population of approximately 4,900 inhabitants. Every year, various festivals take place here. Kato Tithorea is surrounded by many traditional villages, including Tithorea, Agia Paraskevi and Agia Marina. The town offers all kinds of facilities, including hotels, tavernas, cafeterias and commercial shops.
