25Klm away from Tripoli, Kastri is a mountainous village (at an altitude of 950m) and the capital village at a complex of 7 (Mesorahi, Oria, Kavatulas, Nea Hora, Perdikovrisi, Elatos). The village stands in a deep green landscape, hidden in the chestnut trees (the territory is known of the production of chestnuts) and numerous sour- ces of fresh cold water. Staying in Kastri you will have the chance of hiking to the villages around, following ma-gestic routes through the forests, to the slopes of mountain chain Parnonas and the gorgr which is near by. The village is 9klm away from Agios Petros and very close to the Monastery of Timios Prodromos (mentioned in the page referring to Dimitsana). As every other mountainous village, Kastri has also very interesting history during the ages of the Revolution. It was used as a base by the Greeks and the watermills in the village produced gun-powder. This village is the only one which managed not to be dominated by the troops of Hebraim, who attempted twice to concurr it. During winter time, when the snowfall is thick, sometimes the road communication is shutted down.
