Kastelorizo Town: Kastelorizo town is the only settlement of the island, both the capital and the harbor. The town has been proclaimed preserved, consisting of the following districts: Pigadia, Horafia and Mandraki. Along the promenade there are little coffee places, restaurants and shops. In the harbor, the visitor can find one of the best places to swim.
The town’s two-storey houses with the painted windows and the wooden balconies, lining the horseshoe-shaped port, testify the former prosperity of the settlement. Unfortunately, most of them were destroyed during the Second World War.
In past times, the capital was a gift for the island. Due to its geophysical position, it was a trade cross road between Europe, the Middle East and Egypt.
