It is a mountainous village that is found in distance of 14 km from the city of Lefkada. Characteristic it is that the residents maintain the traditional way of life. The village is famous for the embroideries and the hand made blankets that the women make, the eminent "karysian embroideries" with the particular karysian stitch. Also, every summer, in August, becomes representation of a Karysian marriage. Then the village is submerged by the visitors of the island, which want to know the deliveries of the place. In 1912 were founded the Faculty of embroideries, in which from then until today the young Lefkadian girls learn textile - that it has big delivery in Lefkada – one of the biggest. The daily life of mountainous Lefkada lives up through the exhibits of Folklore museum of Karya. Round of the beautiful squares of the settlement there are hospitable lodgings, barbecues and cafes. Visit also the village Egklouvi where are cultivated with traditional methods the very tasty lentils. In the plateau of Egklouvi and in altitude of 950 m. there are the relics of a big Roman tower before many years. According to the tradition, by this tower was thrown and killed the Bishop Donatos at the duration of the persecution of the Christians. In the church of Saint Donatos, in the 6 and on 7 August, become big two days feast. The locality is impressive, particularly at the summertime.
