Kalymnos Town: Kalymnos town or Pothia is the capital and the island’s port. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful and graphic capitals of Dodecanese. Spectacular, at the entrance of the prt, is the mermaid statue, welcoming all visitors.
Most of the houses here are of neoclassic style, while there are some of Venetian architecture built by the Italians, (1930-1935).
The traditional product of Kalymnos is that of sponges, making thus sponge fishing the main industry, especially in the past. Workshops of sponge elaboration are found everywhere.
In order to swim you have to visit the two organized beaches of Gefira and Therma, famous for their clear waters.
From the port, you can take a boat and tour around the island, visiting also the small islands of Telendos and Pserimos.
