On the west section of Achaia and on the Korinthian Gulf Kalogria and its beach are one of the most worth to be visited resorts in Peloponissos. The beach is extended while here we find the famous Strofilia forest. This forest is one of the biggest in Mediterranean and a very important chain for the ecosystem. Sreadind to an extention of 20000 acres there are all kinds of trees such as pine trees, cone trees, brai trees, myrtles and oak trees.
The forest reaches up to the coast in a parallel course (the careta-careta lay their eggs here and the sea is a natural fish farm) and apart from the numerous species of animals that live here the location has been declared as a protected area by the national treaty of Ramsar for the bird species. The Strofilia forest, the Kotyhi lagoon, the Prokopu lake and the Papa lagoon are all forming an ecological complex. Here you can choose from 80 different routes to walk or climb in the mountains.There is also an activity center that can inform you on the activities you can engage( beach sports, banana, trambolino, aerostato, catamaran, sailing).
