Imerovigli is a traditional village situated only 2km. away from Fira. The name of the village derives from the word «mera», in Greek meaning «day». The position of the settlement, (built on a high cliff), provides a beautiful view of the area. Here, the visitor can find several hotels, together with tavernas and cafeterias. In front of Imerovigli lies an enormous rock, called Scaros. On top of that rock there was a castle, (known as the castle of Scaros), until the early 1800s. Unfortunately, it collapsed after an earthquake.
