The prefecture of Imathia is situated in the west-central part of Macedonia. The capital town is that of Veria, while its longest river is called Aliakmon, flowing to the south and east of the prefecture.
Imathia has a total area of 1,701 sq. km. and a population of approximately 144,000 inhabitants. To the west side of Imathia lies the snow-capped mountain of Vermion, overlooking a fertile plain covered in vineyards and fruit trees. The visitor gets the opportunity of discovering several locations and sites, while the prefecture offers all sorts of facilities, including hotels, apartments, restaurants, cafeterias and commercial shops.
