Gaios is the capital and the harbour of Paxi. According to the tradition it took his name from the student of Apostle Pavlos that taught the Christianity in the Paxos people. The graphic settlement is built in the myho a closed and secure gulf. The houses maintain the traditional eptanisian architecture. While at length of the coastal you see also the mansions of a new classical rhythm that give in the region a royal aspect. Dyed in the colour of ochre or in the pink and the light blue tones, remind you seasons of romantic people and dreamers. Near in the harbour you will meet the historical file of the island and the church of Saint Apostles. At your eve in the Gaios you visit also the museum of Paxi that through his exhibits is presented all the history of the island. For the lovers of the swimming and marine sports the island of Paxi is an ideal place. The beaches of the island constitute the incarnation of dreams of each bather and visitor. From the Gaios you can easily approach the beaches: Gianna, Soylanena, Klwni Goyli, Kamini and Bad Lagkada. Also, with little boats (caiques) you will visit the islet Virgin Mary and Saint Nikolaos and you will swim in their splendid beaches. At the night you will have lunch in the coastal restaurants.
