Ermioni: On the northcoast of Argolida, 85Klm from Nafplio, Ermioni is another spot that vividly reminds us an island.
Built next to a piny cape the peninsula has many marvelous beaches and coves. Across the coastline of Ermioni, we find the island of Dokos. At the bottom of the sea, divers found the oldest shipwreck in the history. The findings of that wreck are of the early Heladic Ages. The ancient city of Ermioni is situated at the location today called Bisti. The exca-vations brought up to light remainings of a temple dedicated to Poseidon (god of the sea) and at the location Heliokastro findings of the ancient town mentioned by Pausanias, Helie. We can find remainings even in the yard of the town prima-ry school and in the yard of the church Taxiarhes.The monastery of Agioi Anargyroi takes us back to the Byzantine era and it’s known of the muras of Saints and the hot-springs. Ermioni took great part during the Greek revolution against the Ottomans in 1821. The lowland of Ermioni is full fo orange, mandarin and olive trees. The lowand is also producing pomegranates of great quality. The plantations reach up to the location of the village Furni. The peninsula of Ermioni bustles with life every summer as the touristic facilities cover every taste. The islands of Spetses and Hydra can be very easily visited by boat.
