The village of Ellinika is situated on the northeastern part of the island, 102km. away from Chalkida. It has a population of approximately 500 inhabitants, perched on the slopes of a hill covered in pine-trees. The beach is ideal for swimming, while the pine trees are almost touching the water. Across the beach there is a tiny island dominated by the church of Agios Nikolaos. If you wish, you can even swim the distance. Ellinika, (actually meaning «Greek»), owns its name to the Greek ships which anchored close to the village’s beach, before the naval battle of Artemisio.
