Donousa (Introduction): The island of Donoussa is situated between the islands of Amorgos and Naxos. It is the largest of the «Small Cyclades» group with an area of 13 square kilometers and a population of just 160 inhabitants. The island consists of five villages, namely Stavros, (the largest of all), Troulos, Mersini and Kalotaritissa.
Donousa used to be an agricultural island exporting onions, but today tourism has become the main source of income. It is considered by many as the ideal destination for relaxing holidays with sandy beaches and a picturesque harbor. No cars are allowed on the island.
Unlike most Aegean islands, Donoussa, (covered in bushes and cedar trees), has natural sources of water. There are wells all over the island and a spring with excellent drinking water.
Donoussa has frequent connections with Piraeus, Naxos and Amorgos.
