The municipality of Doirani belongs to the prefecture of Kilkis, with a population of approximately 2,200 inhabitants. The beautiful lake of Doirani has a total area of 30 square kilometers, also known by the name of Prasiada. The lake, being situated 80km.away from Thessaloniki, is shallow with a rich variety of plants and animal species. In order to get to the settlement, you may follow the road to Mouries. The British military cemetery, located on the hill behind the village, awakens memories of the First World War. The inhabitants living around the lake are approximately 9,000 in number, being engaged mainly in agriculture and fishing.
