Candia

Cadia: cadia is a coastline village which gives us signs of life since the Mycenean Ages. You can walk on the remai- nings of the acropolis of the ancient city on the hill of Saint- Eleousa. During the latter- day history the village was in – habited after the revolution against the Ottomanic posession in 1821, by people who came from the island of Crete and mixed themselves with people from Arkadia. Worth to be seen apart from the acropolis is the tower- stone-house named Kadia Agas’ tower as it was the residence of the territory chief until 1821. The beach, spreading across the central high-way is beautiful and clean. Every summer Kadia gathers a large number of visitors. Near the beach of spring Asklipios you will find sea- turtles. Northeast of cadia, near Lykotropi, you can find the remainigs of another prehistorical com- munity, the town of Eonon which is mentioned by Homer in Iliada.
